How Six Sigma Lean Training Can Help Your Business

The principles of Six sigma lean training can greatly improve business. Even if business is good and money is being made there is always room for improvement. Six Sigma has the reputation for helping transform company operations for the better. In the end the customer is happier and so are the employees. The point is to increase profits, improve product delivery and customer handling.

Six Sigma works with six core concepts. What is most important to the customer? What keeps a business from giving the customer what they want? How does the business deliver to customers? How does the customer view how they are handled? Making sure the delivery of goods or services is consistent and increases customer satisfaction. Changing the processes of the business to meet customers needs.

Globalization of business means all businesses need to be in top performance to compete. Potential customers are able to easily find information on any business. They can just as easily find out other customers opinions on the company as well. Many make their decisions based on the information they find. With Six Sigma the quality of product and exceeding customer expectations is top priority.

The Lean training still concentrates on the customer being the ultimate goal. But the customer is seen in two ways. The end consumer and the customer of each part of a production process. Whatever a department does it has customers and it is up to that department or level to deliver great product to the next level or customer. Having this focus on each step of the process will automatically lead to the final customer being satisfied. The goal is to make each step lean even the time it takes to produce.

The usual business model is run on a push system. A large amount of product is made and kept in inventory until an order is received. The product goes out and there is continuous production whether there is a need or not. The Lean system looks to the pull system. A made to order system. A small amount of inventory may still be in place and each time an order is received more is made to replace that small amount. This goes downstream as well from the very first part needed to make the product.

To be lean is to cut excess away. The production process must be lean. It is to be improved constantly. This helps decrease the costs of having excess inventory. The product quality improves without it being the focus. The ability to find out defects in products is faster. This means a decrease in wasted product. There is less space needed to house inventory and more capital is freed.

The concepts of the Lean system apply to all areas of business, including service businesses. Find the actions that are not adding value to the company and remove or improve upon them. The Six Sigma Lean training program can help a company make gains in customer satisfaction, profits, quality and productivity. It is a way to improve the performance of a company overall .
